The University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions:1. Job Title: ASSISTANT LECTURERS – PHARMACOKINETICS, MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY, PHARMACEUTICAL MICROBIOLOGY (3 Posts) – School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH)(a) Reports to: Dean, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH)(b) Duty Station: SJUT Main Campus, Chief Mazengo – Dodoma(c) Job Summary: With guidance of senior staff conduct teaching, research and public services as consultancy.(d) Qualification: Holder of a Master degree in Pharmacy or in relevant field. Must have a GPA of 3.5 or above in undergraduate degree and a GPA of 4.0 or above in master degree.(e) Experience: With a minimum of three (3) years working experience in tertiary education institutions.(f) Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Lecturer shall be responsible to the Dean, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH) for efficiently and effectively preparing and delivering own teaching materials, applying problem solving and innovating skills, and recognizing those having difficulties, intervening and providing help and support. He/she shall specifically be responsible for teaching pharmacology, medicinal chemistry or microbiology. Other duties include:
(i) Conduct lectures; prepare case studies; assist in tutorials/seminars in undergraduate (not Master or PhD) and other courses.
(ii) Work in cooperation with senior faculty members on specific projects such as research and consultancy.
(iii) Understudy senior academic staff to supervise special projects, conduct, publish and disseminate research results.
(iv) Participate in training, research and consultancy.
(v) Marks and grade examinations and tests.
(vi) Supervise students during seminars, examinations, tests, practical, field work and tutorials.
(vii)Participate in writing of Teaching Manuals.
(viii) Participate in curriculum development.
(ix) Invigilate students during examinations.
(x) Attend workshops, conferences and symposia.
(xi) Attend faculty development training.
(xii)Promote excellence in all service programmes of the department.
(xiii) Perform any other duties that may be assigned by a competent authority.(g) Salary Scale: Staff salary rank according to SJUT Scheme of Service(h) Tenure: Local permanent contract and pensionable.2. Job Title: LABORATORY SCIENTIST (1 Post) – School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH)(a) Reports to: Dean, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH)(b) Duty Station: SJUT Main Campus, Chief Mazengo – Dodoma(c) Job Summary: With guidance of senior staff conduct teaching, research and public services as consultancy.(d) Qualification: Holders of B.Sc. in relevant field or Higher Diploma or equivalent from a recognised institution with registration as Graduate Scientist
or Technician Scientist where applicable, with a working experience of at least four (4) years in a similar position.(e) Experience: With a minimum of three (3) years working experience in tertiary education institutions.(f)Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Laboratory Scientist shall be responsible to the Dean, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH) for efficiently and effectively preparing all practicals in terms of materials needed and experiments, preparing the standard operating procedures for all equipment, supervise all practicals in all practical sessions including experiments, applying problem solving and innovating skills, and recognizing those having difficulties, intervening and providing help and support. Other duties include:(i) Assists in all technical duties and responsibilities requiring a higher degree of planning and design competence in the areas of students practicals/projects;
(ii) Assists in research and development activities;
(iii) Assists in consultancy activities;
(iv) Assists in maintenance of facilities; and.
(v) Perform any other duties that may be assigned by a competent authority.(g)Salary Scale: Staff salary rank according to SJUT Scheme of Service(h)Tenure: Local permanent contract and pensionable.3. Job Title: ASSISTANT LECTURERS – PHYSICS (2 Posts)– Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FaNAS)(a) Reports to: Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FaNAS)(b) Duty Station: SJUT Main Campus, Mazengo – Dodoma(c) Job Summary: With guidance of senior staff conduct teaching, research and public services as consultancy.(d) Qualification: Holder of a MSc. in Physics. Must have a GPA of 3.5 or above in undergraduate degree and a GPA of 4.0 or above in masters degree.(e) Experience: With a minimum of three (3) years working experience in tertiary education institutions.(f) Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Lecturer (Physics) shall be responsible to the Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FaNAS) for the efficient and effective preparing and delivering own teaching materials, problem solving and innovating skills, and recognizing those having difficulties, intervene and provide help and support. He/she shall specifically be responsible, for:(i) Conducting lecturers, seminars, tutorials and practicals for undergraduate programmes;
(ii) Assisting senior staff in practical, seminars and tutorials for postgraduate programmes as part of their learning and building capacities in various aspects of teaching, learning, research and public service;
(iii) Supervising special projects for undergraduate students;
(iv) Conducting and publishing research results;
(v) Assist in writing teaching manuals and compendia; and
(vi) Perform any other duties pertaining to teaching, research and consultancy as may be prescribed by the Vice Chancellor or competent authority.(g) Salary Scale: Staff salary rank according to SJUT Scheme of Services(h) Tenure: Local permanent contract and pensionable.4. Job Title: ASSISTANT LECTURERS – MATHEMATICS (2 Posts) – Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FaNAS)(a) Reports to: Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FaNAS)(b) Duty Station: SJUT Chief Mazengo Campus – Dodoma(c) Job Summary: With guidance of senior staff conduct teaching, research and public services as consultancy.

d) Qualification: Holder of a MSc. in Mathematics. Must have a GPA of 3.5 or above in undergraduate degree and a GPA of 4.0 or above in masters degree.(e) Experience: With a minimum of three (3) years working experience in tertiary education institutions.(f) Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The Clerical cum Office Assistant shall be responsible to the Director of Human Resource Management and Administration (DHRMA) for the efficient and effective performance of up keeping the office and assisting in administration duties. He/she shall specifically be responsible, for:
(i) Collection and delivery of letters;
(ii) Dispatch letters;
(iii) Transmit official documents within the University;
(iv) Operate machinery/equipment;
(v) Preparation and serving of tea/coffee etc.; and
